Why are those that profess to love freedom the most willing to protect it the least?

All of the new Political Correctness is very rapidly eroding freedom. As far as I know it a law has not yet been ped that requires one to like all people and embrace all lifestyles etc. What has been "engineered" is the palatable fear of expressing ones views/convictions. Because I am an upper-middle cl professional male my views are suspect. Because I do not ociate with gays or minorities I am viewed as a bigot. Because I support Conservative causes I am labeled an uneducated Nazi! I am university educated by the way. Well, if I recall correctly, one of the cornerstones of a developed democracy is that even unpopular views must be protected. My paring shot is that I believe that the liberals, the nerds and the misfits have taken over!
