Do you think I should forget about him?

For 11 months I have really liked this guy who plays guitar at my church. I am 15 and he is 16, and he is one of the most amazing guys I've ever met. We have been talking quite a bit lately on Myspace (and our conversations are always really interesting and / or funny, and we share all the same values and everything) and I was under the impression that he liked me. But on Sunday night at youth group, I was told by some boy that this guy I like still likes his ex, and they broke up almost a year and a half ago. They went out for less than a year. I liked him for so long and I tried so hard to make it work and now this happens. Should I continue to pursue him, or am I completely deluding myself? When will he finally get over his ex (who doesn't like him), if ever?
