Avoid any site that only accepts payment by banker's draft or Western Union - once they've got your money they're gone! You can use whois to check when the web site was registered and for how long - scammers will have recently registered their sites for a short time. Try googling for phrases used on the site, particularly oddly worded ones - scammers will often simply copy someone else's site. There are a lot of business directories on-line - see if the company's listed.
